What is Canva?
Canva is an all-in-one visual communication platform that empowers the world to design. It’s a simple way to create beautiful presentations, infographics, videos, t-shirts, websites, social media posts, and more.
When do I use Canva?
Canva is a great resource for students to generate creative materials (ex: presentations, infographics, podcasts, videos, etc).
Canva is also a great resource for YOU to create materials to use with students in your class.
Where do I access Canva?
We recommend accessing your Beaver EducationPro account through the waffle when logged into your school email.
Canva Custom Size - Important if you are printing your design!
When and why would I use Canva Custom Size?
Canva Custom Size allows you to set the dimensions of your project, which is especially important if you plan to PRINT your design.
Thinking about and setting your dimensions at the START of your design will save you time!
If you forget to set the dimensions at the beginning, you can resize it later (option in the toolbar).
This may require you to edit all of the content as the formatting will change.
Popular dimensions and final products:
8.5x11 or 11x8.5 inches: Letter Size
Good for printing documents, booklets, brochures, handouts, flyers, etc
You can print letter size designs on any Beaver printer, including full color on the R-Level
8.5x14 or 14x8.5 inches: Legal size
Good for printing menus, bulletins, brochures, infographics, charts, diagrams, etc.
You can print full color designs but need help from the IT Team (it requires a special printer drive)
Download your design as a JPEG and email it to presentations@bcdschool.org. Include the print size you want.
Then check in with IT Help Desk on the R-Level to let them know you sent a file and ask for their help to help print it
11x17 or 17x11 inches: Tabloid/Ledger
Good for printing drawings, diagrams, large tables, bulletins, infographics, etc.
You can print full color designs but need help from the IT Team (it requires a special printer driver)
Download your design as a JPEG and email it to presentations@bcdschool.org. Include the print size you want.
Then check in with IT Help Desk on the R-Level to let them know you sent a file and ask for their help to help print it
12x18 or 18x12 inches: Small Poster
Good for printing small posters, marketing materials, infographics, etc.
Your design should NOT have a solid, dark background color. Choose white/light color with darker font to save on ink.
This size must be printed using the large format printer and requires help from the IT Team

18x24 or 24x18 AND 24x36 or 36x24 inches: Large Poster
Good for printing large posters
Your design should NOT have a solid, dark background color. Choose white/light color with darker font to save on ink.
This is the largest size poster we can print on campus using the large format printer and requires help from the IT Team
